God of War's Kratos Originally a "Little Elf"
The bloodthirsty protagonist of War god wasn't always the maniac we know and (kind of) have it away.
Consider close to Sony's War god series, and on that point's a favourable bet that the image that first pops into your mind is of the series antihero protagonist, Kratos. Kratos cuts a very recognizable figure, what with his stark red-and-E. B. White skin, the blades grafted onto his weapons system, and his willingness to slaughter his way through hell and hindermost to get what he wants.
Understandably, though, it took a spell to get the purpose of Kratos properly. "I think it took us a year-and-a-incomplete to come up with Kratos," Ken Feldman – lead environmental creative person on the first God of War (and in real time series prowess director as a whole) – told Official PlayStation Magazine UK in the clip's latest issue.
"That was the most tight affair. Everything had to be supported around this character – the story, the weapons. The first guy we came up with was a little pixy graphic symbol, he was agitated. His animations looked like Disney." Other original concepts for Kratos included an at large buckle down and a Thelonious Sphere Monk carrying a baby, revealed Feldman.
Thankfully, series Maker David Jaffe had a much clearer idea of what he welcome Kratos to look like – a vision based off of his roll in the hay for action-risk movies and games, and Greek mythology. A good thing, too, instead we could have been playing a War god with a very, very different character.
I wonder if a little Walt Disney elf would have had two candycanes grafted to his arms instead of swords.
